Corinth Housing Development
San Fernando
The Corinth Housing Development, executed under the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), represents a major initiative in affordable and inclusive housing for families in San Fernando. Completed between 2018 and 2022, the project delivered a mix of 2‑bedroom single‑family units and accessible units, ensuring that persons with mobility challenges could benefit from modern, comfortable living spaces.
Scope of Works
The development encompassed a full range of civil, structural, and finishing works, including:
- Site preparation and drainage infrastructure
- Road‑works and external access routes
- Water supply and wastewater management systems
- Landscaping
- Substructure and superstructure construction
- Internal fittings, furnishings, and surface finishes
- Plumbing and electrical services
- External works such as driveways and walkways
Design and Accessibility
The housing units were designed to balance functionality with comfort. Accessible units incorporated features such as ramps, wider doorways, and modified bathrooms, ensuring inclusivity and compliance with accessibility standards. The overall layout promoted family‑friendly living and community interaction.
Sustainability and Quality
Durable materials and efficient systems were employed to ensure long‑term sustainability. Landscaping and drainage solutions were designed to support environmental resilience, while the quality of finishes reflected the Corporation’s commitment to high standards.
Community Impact
This project addressed the pressing need for affordable housing in San Fernando, providing secure and modern homes for families while enhancing local infrastructure. By integrating accessible units, the development reinforced the principle of equal opportunity in housing.
Contract Model
The project was executed as a Design‑Build‑Finance‑Service (DBFS) contract, covering the construction of single‑family and accessible units along with all related site infrastructure works at Corinth Site B, San Fernando. This integrated approach streamlined delivery, optimized resource allocation, and ensured accountability across design, financing, construction, and service phases.
Project Delivery
Delivered over a four‑year period (2018–2022), the works were coordinated across multiple disciplines to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards. Challenges such as site conditions and infrastructure integration were successfully managed through proactive planning and execution.
